Bartow, Florida, June 14, 2001 – Dan Costello, Chairman of the Polk Charter Review Commission announced today that the Charter Review Commission web site is now in operation.  Access to the web site is at www.polkcharter.com.

The web site has information on the Polk County Charter and the charter revision process.  It includes a message board allowing citizens to comment on issues pertaining to the charter review.

The Charter Review Commission was created by Article 8.4 of the Polk County Charter, approved by the voters of Polk County in November 1998, and amended by the voters on November 7, 2001. 

The Commission has 13 members, and is charged with making recommendations for amendments or revisions to the Charter for consideration by the voters in a referendum to be scheduled by the Board of County Commissioners in 2002.
